Don't wait till it's too late
Those little nagging symptoms. Those little aches and pains. They feel like nothing major.
You tell yourself that it will get better and you’ll bounce back to your old self again in a couple days.
The thing is, that old self is what got you here in the first place. That nagging pain, that little ache, you wonder what caused it. You say to yourself that it’ll go away on its own.
I’ve seen the above scenario a million times.
Most people I meet generally push back those feelings of pain and go about their activities. But then one day, something acts up more than usual and then they come see me. I perform a physical examination, a total body diagnostic, and we start to reveal and pull back the layers. We find out the underlying source of the pain.
By this time, movement and postural dysfunctions have built up to a level that causes pain and maybe injury. The real trick is to catch it and stop it in its tracks before it reaches that threshold.
Let’s take back pain for example. It affects over 85% of Americans, very common. Back pain can be very debilitating. The pain can prevent you from doing the things that you love. Just standing or sitting can be painful. But what’s the cause of the back pain?
For most people they look at the answer in the old medical model: get an appointment to go see a physician, get an x-ray or MRI, and then treat whatever the x-ray or MRI findings are.
That's traditional and reactive.
But what if you can be progressive and be more pro-active?
Don’t wait until pain stops you from doing the things that you want to do. Physical Therapy is about improving movement and everyday function…. Before things get out of hand.
We can assess and find out your movement dysfunctions that may put you at risk for pain or injury down the road. We can prevent pain from happening because we prevent the cause.
Back pain is common, and the causes can be just as common but often overlooked. Waiting until pain stops you in your tracks is waiting until it may be too late. Let’s change the paradigm of what physical therapy is. It’s not reactive, it’s proactive.
